KUCHING: The Muslim community is reminded to live by adhering to the basis of Islam.
In stating this, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that by following the teaching of Islam, only then the community will be able to produce a quality ummah despite these challenging times.
“The two basic teachings that we need to follow are the Al-Quran and the Prophet’s Sunnah. If we do not stick to these two Islamic foundations, the ummah will go astray.
“That is why we do not only recite the Al-Quran but also need to understand the meaning of the surah. By doing so, our understanding will be better and it will be our guide in life,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the Ujian Tilawah Al-Quran dan Pertandingan Hafazan Peringkat Satok 2023 at Surau Darul Qarrar, Kampung Temedak here on today (Mar 3).
Following this, he commended the organising of the said programme as it promoted recitation of the Al-Quran among the Muslim community.
“This is what we want. We need to always study, and understand the meaning while reciting the Al-Quran. InsyaAllah by doing so, we will get the Taufiq and Hidayah from Allah.
“If we want a quality ummah that is safe in the world and afterlife, we need to adhere to the teachings of Al-Quran and Sunnah,” he emphasised.
For the record, the said programme here organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Satok Branch and Biro Agama Satok is held from Mar 3 to 5.
With its theme of ‘Manhaj Rabbani Ummah Berkualiti’, this programme includes the participation of nine Qari and seven Qariah participants, seven each for the Category 1 Hafazan (for 7 to 12 years old) and Category 2 Hafazan (for 13 to 17 years old).
