KUCHING: Minister of Welfare, C ommu n i t y We l l – B e i n g , Women, Family, and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has requested that the Sarawak Association for the Development of Professionalism in Education (PROFES) organise workshops for pre-school teachers.“ Other than workshops for teachers in primary and secondary schools, they should also have workshops for teachers who teach at the pre-school level.

“We, at the ministry, as well as teachers welcome any efforts to increase the development of professionalism among teachers. “As teachers, they have to increase their professionalism by means of skills and knowledge. “PROFES helps to supplement the Education Department and Ministry by conducting small workshops in various parts of the state,” she said during a press conference at her office at Bangunan Baitulmakmur here yesterday.

Earlier on, PROFES paid a courtesy call on Fatimah; it has appointed her as its advisor for the 2018- 2020 term. During the meeting, the delegates briefed the minister on the activities they had planned for the new term.

The activities included an international conference on multiple intelligence which Fatimah welcomed with open arms. “This is a topic that is close to the hearts of educators and is something that all teachers need to know as students have different types of intelligence,” she said.
