SIBU: The Smart Hut Reading Programme aims to foster a love for reading among students.

The organiser Noralam Ideris said the initiative can reduce illiteracy rates and boost students’ literacy and reading skills.

Yesterday, 293 pupils from SK Jalan Deshon joined the programme at the school’s Sri Gemilang hall.

The event, led by Sibu’s Deputy Education Officer, Siti Mariam Abdul Rahman, also saw participation from Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (PNS) Sibu manager Fairul Azli Banchit, and the school’s headmaster, Abang Khadari Abang Bolhassan.

Key partners like the Sibu District Education Office, PNS Sibu, Kebab Bella Inspirasi Sibu, Bank Rakyat, and Academy Book Centre played a crucial role in the programme’s success.
