KUCHING: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) will be hosting the Voices from Gaza (Suara dari Lembah Gaza) programme from July 25 to 31 in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim).
“This programme will raise funds that will be channelled to Palestine. We will be using the Musa’adah Fund as the official fund collection,” said the DBP in its statement.
It also added that the programme would use poetry as a medium of speech to express support and solidarity for the Palestinians.
“Poetry expresses feelings, thoughts and experiences with beauty and truth and will deeply impress those who hear them,” it explained.
It added that in line with the movement control order (MCO), the programme would be held online and involve DBP Headquarters, DBP Sabah and Sarawak branches as well as DBP Northern, Eastern, Southern and Central Regions.
“The programme will also involve various parties such as political figures, literary figures, media, the general public and others.
“It will be broadcast live through DBP Malaysia’s social media platforms, namely, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and DBP’s digital platform, Jendela DBP.
“The poems from this programme will be published in physical form and e-publication and their sales will be included in the Musa’adah Fund,” added DBP.
