BELADIN: The Jom Berambeh ― The Journey 2022 Project Leader Dr Norseha Unin is happy with the positive response of villagers to the English Language Use Workshop for Social Media being held at the coastal village of Beting Maro.
The workshop, which began on Friday and ends today, not only provides knowledge on the benefits of social media and fosters the use of English.
It has also successfully exposed the opportunities for the villagers to get involved in online businesses and highlighted the traditional products available in the area.
“Participants managed to showcase their talents through the presentation of local products such as sugar candy (gula arai).
“We were also surprised with the idea of ice cream products containing apong sugar,” added Norseha when met at the workshop at the Al-Amin Mosque in Kampung Beladin on Friday (Feb 4).
“Through this programme, we can see the participants’ enthusiasm as well as appreciate traditional Muara Saribas recipes,” said Norseha.
According to her, the workshop also provided opportunities for participants to be actively involved in marketing their products through social media by using simple phrases in English.
She hoped that support would continue be given to highlight the skills of rural youths in the international market.
Also present at the programme was the chairman of the Southeast Asian and Pan-Pacific Women’s Association (PPSEAWA) Datuk Dr Munirah Mohd Hassan.
