BALINGIAN: Projek Park were champions of the 9-a-side Balingian Assemblyman Cup 2019 football tournament after defeating Banqku FT team from Mukah 3-1 through a penalty shootout in the final at the MPG Football Stadium, here, Sunday evening. Both were tied 2-2 for the 30-minute match. With the win, the Bintulu team took home RM3,500, trophies and medals while Banqku FT received RM1,500, trophies and medals.
Meanwhile, Project Park player Habibi Ali was named the best player of the tournament. IPDM FC B player Saifudin Zaffarin emerged as the top scorer with seven goals. Each of them won RM100 and a trophy each. Third place was held by home team, KRT Pulat Balingian to win RM800 prize, trophy and medal. Jocker FC were fourth.
Mukah District Office administrative officer Dominic Ahjun gave away the prizes. Also present were Mukah Football Association (MuFA) president Ajahar Bakar, MPG and Press Metal representatives and AJK Balingian Assemblyman Committee. A total of 15 teams from around and outside Mukah participated in the two-day tournament.
