KUCHING: Civil servants are called upon to foster the spirit of patriotism among the younger generations. According to Deputy Federal Secretary Norizan Jili in his speech during the ‘Kibar Jalur Gemilang Peringkat Wisma Persekutuan Kota Samarahan’ programme yesterday, civil servants should have a sense of responsibility in carrying out the work entrusted to them.

In addition, he said they should also focus on the quality of their work by improving any weaknesses for the
better future of the country.

He added that although Malaysia had achieved 62 years of independence, some irresponsible parties were still deliberately raising racially sensitive issues.

“Nevertheless, Malaysians still hold to the principle of mutual respect among the different races,” said Norizan.

During the event, a total of 15 vehicles from 11 agencies convoy to fly the Jalur Gemilang starting from the Kota Samarahan Federal Office and travel around Kota Samarahan area before returning to the Federal Office again.
