LAWAS: It is vital to take Lawas and Limbang into consideration for division status as a crucial step towards regional development.
As such, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan expressed his gratitude to the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who agreed to initiate a study that would pave the way for the establishment of the two new divisions.
After chairing the State Development Coordination Committee Meeting (SDCCM) in Lawas earlier, Abang Johari stated that the elevation of Lawas, Limbang, and Baram to divisions would bring about more comprehensive development opportunities.
He noted that a proposal had already been put forward and that the State Secretary’s office would carry out the necessary studies.
Meanwhile, Awang Tengah highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of numerous projects in the area.
“There are many projects — some are already completed, some are in progress, and some are still in the planning stages.
“After being hampered for two years by COVID-19, we are finally prepared to resume all operations, including the construction sector.
“The premier wants these projects to be carried out to the best of our abilities,” he said at a dinner at Lawas Indoor Stadium here last night (May 27).
In light of this, Awang Tengah, who is also the Bukit Sari assemblyman, urged the public to continue supporting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, led by our visionary premier.
He stressed the significance of the government’s commitment to development and its vision for the state’s future.
“This is our commitment. Regardless of our differences in culture and background, I urge all of us to make sure that we preserve this harmonious way of life.
“It is the foundation of the stability we currently enjoy, which allows us to live safely,” he said.
