SIBU: A total of 323 participants partook in the Mental Health Run 2024, organized by the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) on October 6.

In a statement released today, on October 7, the university highlighted that the run stood as a significant event with a strong focus on advancing mental well-being.

“It’s inspiring to witness involvement from diverse sectors, such as IPTS, primary and secondary schools, government agencies, the private sector, and the general public, underscoring the community’s dedication to mental health awareness,” the statement expressed.

The event commenced with UTS Registrar Jimmy De Rozario and Sibu Hospital Deputy Director Dr Nizam Ishak leading the flag-off ceremony.

Furthermore, they emphasized that the exhibitions orchestrated by the Psychiatry and Mental Health Department served an educational purpose, furnishing attendees with valuable resources and information.

“The Mental Health Run 2024 emerged as a vibrant and immersive occasion, striving to amplify mental health awareness while nurturing community camaraderie,” the statement continued.

They underscored that the program’s objective extended beyond physical fitness, aiming to elevate consciousness and bolster support for mental health within the community.

“This gathering transcends mere running; it embodies a comprehensive endeavour to underscore the pivotal role of mental health in our lives,” they articulated.
