BAU: Several tourism areas here are being considered for inclusion in a new branding initiative aimed at promoting Sarawak Delta Geo Park (SDGP) tourism in Sarawak.
Tourism Malaysia Sarawak director Nurul Ain Muhammed Yunus revealed this development as part of SDGP’s efforts following a recent Tourism Malaysia workshop.
The workshop hosted 20 travel agents, including representatives from Peninsular Malaysia, to explore Bau, located within the SDGP area.
“As we all know, Bau area is under the SDGP and therefore during the workshop, the agents have visited several places of interest including Tasik Biru, Paku Rock Maze, Serembu Eco Resort and more.
“That being said, we have already asked the travel agents to package those places of interest in Bau, in line with a new branding exercise for SDGP tourism in the state,” she said.
She said this during the opening ceremony of Pesta Tasik Biru 2023, representing Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Datuk Mohd Zamri Mat Zain yesterday (Oct 27).
“MOTAC’s initiative is to enhance, recognise, and improve places of interest that may have been overlooked,” she added.
In regards to Pesta Tasik Biru which is currently held from October 27 to 29, Nurul Ain highlighted the festival’s role in drawing attention to promoting the rich heritage and natural beauty of the Bau area.
“Pesta Tasik Biru is not just a local festival, it is also part of the platform to strengthen the spirit of unity among the community and encourage tourism development alongside the economy in Bau.
“Through this initiative, communities in Bau can introduce the beauty of the flora and fauna to the citizens of the world as well as the extraordinary culture in this area and the cooperation and spirit of the people in Bau are indeed valuable assets in advancing this region.
“Hopefully the Pesta Tasik Biru will continue to grow, benefiting the local residents and gaining a much wider recognition in the future,” she added.
