DAYANG Noorazah Awang Sohor (GPS-Lingga) proposed that a special centre be built for the local community in her speech at the august House here on yesterday, which would provide sports facilities such as football stadiums, futsal courts, takraw, badminton, basketball, netball, archery, and may be upgraded for motorsports and e-sports.

The special centre would also provide counselling, motivation, job search and assistance services to the youths, she added.

According to Dayang Noorazah, with the construction of the centre, youths would be less exposed to negative influence and would create a community with integrity and a love for sports.

She also recommended that educational and medical facilities be established in her constituency.

She said the existence of educational opportunities would be an initiative to help Bumiputera students aged 18 and above to continue their studies at tertiary level.

“For the education sector, it is to place colleges that offer joint venture programmes in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) associated colleges, pre-university, community colleges, Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEXS) and others, including adding more courses in Sri Aman Giatmara than now, there are only two options, namely makeup and beauty therapy and computer courses.

“As for medicine, I recommend adding and upgrading the infrastructure and medical needs at the Health Clinic in the Meludam area and it will be great if there are opportunities to build a hospital or clinic in Lingga as it is recognised as a full district.

“The opening of the education and medical sector will open up employment opportunities in the field of education, medicine and can also improve the socioeconomy of the local community.”
