SRI AMAN: The Ministry of Health (MoH) is currently assessing the need to upgrade the Skrang Health Clinic due to its location alongside the Pan Borneo Highway.
Health Deputy Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said that several improvement works have been carried out, including the replacement of residential quarters that were previously located at the site to make way for the highway project.
As such, he asserted that the health clinic is expected to experience increased attendance.
“We have received replacement quarters constructed for the Pan Borneo Highway project. These quarters are situated along the Pan Borneo route.
“This will present a positive image to the community and provide comfortable living spaces for healthcare personnel at the Skrang Health Clinic.
“The clinic can currently accommodate over 30 patients per day and is expected to increase due to the congestion on the Pan Borneo Highway.
“As such, we are evaluating the need to upgrade the clinic, considering its location along the busy Pan Borneo Highway,” he said.
He told reporters this after visiting the Skrang Health Clinic today.
On the same note, Lukanisman expressed gratitude to the Sarawak government for the cooperation provided in delivering good services to the people.
He said the state government has shown readiness to assist with any shortcomings at the ministry level.
“This needs to be the focus. Instead of one party struggling to solve problems, it’s better for all parties to collaborate.
“And we also need to understand that there is a significant gap in services offered between urban and rural areas.
“In the past, people sought healthcare while travelling by using rivers, but now we have paved roads and highways. The journey has become closer.
“That’s why we need comprehensive clinics and functioning hospitals,” he added.
