KUCHING: Those celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri today and the coming Gawai Dayak have been reminded to protect themselves and their families during this critical time of Covid-19.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said it was imperative for the celebrants to comply strictly with the government standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“Always wear a face mask in public places or when you visit someone. Get your temperature checked if you are patronising the grocery shop or supermarket or even office buildings.
“Use a hand sanitiser when needed and remember to wash your hands. Also, practise one to two metre social distancing between you and others. This is the new norm that we have to get used to,” he said in his Hari Raya and Gawai video message which was posted on the MBKS’ Facebook page yesterday.
Wee also hoped the council would resume its normal operation by June 9 when the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period ended.
“It is hoped that everything will return to normal despite some changes in our lifestyle. So, stay safe, stay healthy and keep a distance.
Wee also took the opportunity to wish all frontline workers, the people of Kuching South and all celebrants ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ and ‘Selamat Gawai, Gayu Guyu Gerai Nyamai’.
