SIBU: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) will come up with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to avoid clash of seats in the 15th general election.

This was revealed by both parties in a joint statement released after their meeting here yesterday (May 8).

According to the statement, PSB was represented by its president, Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, and PBK by its secretary-general, Priscilla Lau at the meeting.

It was to discuss allocation of seats between their respective parties at the upcoming GE15.

“The meeting is to deliberate on seats that each party will contest in the GE15.

“The parties will enter into a written MOU soon to avoid clashing of seats so that Sarawak’s chances of being locally represented at the Malaysian Parliament is maximised,” they said.

They emphasised that the local-based parties like PSB and PBK must be represented in the Malaysian Parliament to bring a direct voice from Sarawak to the Malaysian Parliament and to report back to Sarawakians on the decisions of the Malaysian Parliament.

“Local-based parties will always champion the rights and sovereignty of Sarawak before all else without accountability or submission to any ‘Malayan bosses’,” they said.

They pointed out that the open channel between Sarawak and the Malaysian Parliament must be transparent.

“It must represent the ultimate benefit of Sarawakians without fear and favour,” they said.
