KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) is the only credible opposition party to Gabungan Parti Sarawak government as the Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) has already become part of the unity government at the federal level.
PSB President Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said with Sarawak DAP being totally subservient to its central leadership, it would be impossible for its state leaders to play any effective opposition role in Sarawak.
“They (DAP) just cannot have one foot in and one foot out. Otherwise, DAP central leaders will have to keep coming to Sarawak to apologise to GPS,” he said.
“The days of Peninsula-based parties in Sarawak are numbered as Sarawakians have now awakened to the fact that Sarawak is best to be looked after by Sarawak local-based parties,” he said at a press conference held at the party headquarters here today.
Wong said this was proven by the last Sarawak state election when all outside parties were totally wiped out except for DAP which managed to survive with only two narrowly won seats.
He said if DAP Sarawak would like to remain relevant in Sarawak, it must follow the footsteps of GRS of Sabah making a complete break from its mother body in west Malaysia.
PSB, he said, though did not win any seat in the 15th General Election (GE15), the party learned a great deal from their first outing.
“In Lubok Antu, we lost by a small margin and we are in the process of filing an appeal for the election results,” he added.
