KUCHING: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How’s resignation as a Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) member is a challenge to the party in itself.
Political analyst Dr Ammar Redza Ahmad Rizal said the effect of his resignation was such that it had cast doubts on the party’s viability.
According to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) lecturer, he thought that PSB would bring a new challenge to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as a party originally from Sarawak in the last state election.
“At that time, I considered it as a new phenomenon which will bring a big challenge for GPS but if you follow the current developments, this shows that the strength of the PSB itself is still in doubt.
“Because it is most likely that PSB members do not have one network or one strong relationship and this causes issues like what happened to this Batu Lintang assemblyman.
“I expect that this trend will continue until the next general election,” he said when met by New Sarawak Tribune, today.
“It’s just that in the political context in Sarawak, I expect that the internal strength of PSB itself, especially from the aspect of maintaining their representatives, is doubtful.
He also felt the ability of PSB as one of the parties to challenge GPS in the context of parliamentary elections may also be a problem.
