KUCHING: The federal government has been urged to be transparent about the selection of members to the parliamentary select committee (PSC).

Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said appointment to the PSC should not be hush-hush.

“Look at the government’s recent decision to move the Registry of the High Court of Sarawak and Sabah from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu. It shocked so many people, which did the federal government no good,” Fazzrudin said.

He pointed out the federal government’s “fickle and capricious decision” did not reflect any serious commitment to pursuing MA63.

“It seems that the federal government is very fickle in making decisions. It is unpredictable and weirdly in a hurry.

“Who knows while I give my comment now, perhaps in few minutes after this, the federal government suddenly changes its decision yet again,” he told New Sarawak Tribune after a programme at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak’s Auditorium.

He said it was important for the federal government to deliberate its proposals carefully in order to gain the trust of Sarawak and its people.

“We (Sarawak) want to hear a clear decision from federal government regarding the composition of the PSC.

“We hope that they (federal government) is really sincere about restoring our rights and status in accordance with MA63…sincere about setting up PSC and in the selection of the committee members,” he said.
