KUCHING: PTBS Juniors marked this year’s SLTA-Greensports Invitational Junior Tennis Championship 2017 with Mitchel Brabui Tidan making it to the singles finals in Under 16 and Under 18 categories held at SLTA, here, from March 24 to 26.
Mitchel was beaten by Nicklaus in 3-6, 6-3 (7-10) the U16 category final match, while 4-6, 4-6 in the U18.
Both players took home a medal and Wilson goodies each.
Despite losing both finals, there has been a significant improvement in the performance of the PTBS Juniors players. Norhadzmi Khadir and Hanif Pauzi were also doing well where they made it to the semi-finals of both categories only to be beaten by Mitchel.
A total of 10 juniors from PTBS academy took part in this year’s tournament.
PTBS has produced many young tennis talents in the past – including Muhammad Aiman Hamdan – and will continue its junior development programme with the hope of producing more talented players in the future.
Overall, it has been a good outing for PTBS Juniors. PTBS hoped Greensports will continue to support and sponsor more junior competitions in the future.
