KUCHING: Padungan assemblyman, Wong King Wei will work together with Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to further investigate the case of a scam victim here.
Wong pointed this out during a press conference held at Democratic Action Party (DAP) Headquarters here, yesterday.
On 7 May, the scam victim known only as Miss Phua was told by a local bank officer that the credit card under her name was used in a shopping mall at Johor Bahru, Johor with a total credit of RM7,080.
“The officer told me to change all my respective bank PIN and to use the PIN he gave and to also withdraw my fixed deposit account under the name of Yeo Chang Sou,
“After I have done all that I was told, I tried to contact the bank officer but to no avail so I immediately lodged a police report last Wednesday,” she said at the media conference.
Wong requested the PDRM to provide answers and to update him on the case as soon as possible.
“This incident is to alert members of the public to not simply believe phone callers who claim they are from banks and ask to pay or withdraw money,” Wong said.
