KUCHING: Swift action by members of the public saved a closed circuit television (CCTV) room located on the second floor of a shophouse in Taman Malihah in Matang here from being damaged yesterday after a computer caught fire.
Two teams of firefighters in two fire engines from Petra Jaya and Batu Lintang fire stations were dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 6.55am.
Upon arrival, the firefighters were informed that the fire had been put out by members of the public but continued to carry out their investigation at the scene before ending it at 7.40am.
It was understood that the fire started from the computer which sustained 30 per cent damaged.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
