KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Central Women Section and Southern Zone women will organise another lantern parade, dubbed as “Lantern of Unity” at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Park tomorrow (Sept 9) at 7pm.

Its Women chief Kho Teck Wan said the event is held in conjunction with the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, similar to the one that was held at the Malaysia-China Friendship Park last Friday.

The event, she said, aimed to foster unity and celebrate the tradition of carrying lanterns, regardless of races, religions and ages, is expected to attract more than 500 people.

“We welcome all races to join us as that’s how various festivals are usually celebrated in Sarawak,” she said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and MBKS Datuk Wee Hong Seng have been invited to join the parade with the public.

A fashion competition will also be organised; where the champion takes home RM150, and RM100 and RM50 for the runner-up and third placing.
