BINTULU: The opening of the physical counter for the Main Data Repository (PADU) by the Malaysian Department of Statistics, Bintulu Division, at the Farley Market premises here, starting yesterday until Sunday, facilitates the public in registering, taking only ten minutes.
A survey by this reporter found that the PADU registration counter, opened from 8:30 am to 5 pm, was visited by various segments of the community seeking face-to-face explanations, thus simplifying the registration process.
Housewife Angela Lita Jonis, 30, expressed that the opening of the PADU physical counter made it easy for individuals or the public to register and update their profiles.
Moreover, she mentioned that the information filling process was easier with assistance from experts.

“I really didn’t know what PADU was, only heard about it from friends. I’m not very skilled in registering, fearing mistakes, but when the counter like this is open, I find it really useful,” she said.
Ting Kang Ging,88, did not miss the opportunity to visit the PADU counter to understand the benefits of the system and get assistance from officers to register.

PADU, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on January 2, is a secure and comprehensive national data hub to prevent discrepancies in the distribution of government aid and subsidies.
PADU is an integrated socio-economic database of the country, combining data from various government departments and agencies to provide a fair overview of the socio-economic status of each household in Malaysia.
The system was developed through the internal expertise of the Ministry of Economy, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), and the Modernisation of Administration and Management Planning Unit of Malaysia (MAMPU), with the cooperation and support of various ministries, agencies, and state governments.
