MIRI: Twenty fire victims from six households whose houses were razed by fire yesterday (Apr 24) in Pujut Corner are currently taking shelter at Kampung Lereng Bukit’s multipurpose hall.

The remaining 48 victims are  sheltering at their relatives’ homes.

Yesterday, Miri Member of Parliament (Miri MP) Chiew Choon Man gave out RM1,000 to each affected family.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew also visited the victims at the temporary shelter.

Fifteen wooden squatter houses in Pujut Corner were destroyed by the fire which started at around 2.30 pm, leaving 73 victims homeless.

Two were reported injured while escaping the blaze.
