PUSA: A 33kV substation will be built here to meet the electricity needs in the surrounding areas.
According to Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor, the areas around Pusa have been subjected to frequent power supply disruptions.
“At present, the electricity is channelled through the substation in Engkilili.
“However, the state government and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) have built a 275kV Serudit substation to supply electricity to Betong.
“The government will also provide a 33kV Pusa substation to supply the electricity here.
“I am also informed that the project will be tendered this month and is expected to be completed within 15 months,” he said after a meeting with the Rural Electricity Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
According to Razaili, the project is very important to ensure that residents no longer experience electricity disruption.
“Many residents complain that the frequent power supply disruptions have damaged most of their electrical appliances,” he stressed, hoping SEB would be more sensitive to this situation and ensure no more recurring interruptions.
He also called on the relevant authority to clear the plants growing on electric poles.
“If there is any disruption due to the Pan Borneo Highway construction, I propose that the repairing work be done at the weekend with prior notice.
“I also request the government to provide a special allocation to move the electric poles located in the middle of the road, especially in the villages,” added the Beting Maro assemblyman.
On another note, Razaili said that low-income households (B40) could apply for electricity supply through the Additional or Late Applicant Funds (ALAF).
Also present were political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu and Lembaga Amanah Khairat Islam Spaoh (LAKIS) chairman Dr Abang Ismail Abang Julhi.
