KUALA LUMPUR: The computerised vehicle inspection centre (Puspakom) will extend its operating hours for e-hailing vehicles at selected branches effective April 1.
Its chief executive officer Shukor Ismail said e-hailing drivers with cars aged three years and above from the date of registration could bring their vehicles to the Puspakom branches on Saturday and Sunday to seize the opportunity for special e-hailing checks.
“We encourage e-hailing operators and drivers to use the online appointment date system via www.mypuspakom.com.my or through the My PUSPAKOM application to plan their inspection time.
“Puspakom’s Mobile Truck unit services are also being provided with a certain number of vehicles,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He said this was in line with the Ministry of Transport’s announcement that all e-hailing service drivers must register for the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence before July 12.
A total of 19 branches will be operating seven days a week. At Kuala Lumpur, these branches are Wangsa Maju, Cheras, Taman Bukit Maluri, while in Selangor the branches are Padang Jawa, Banting, Bangi, Glenmarie, Batu Caves and Pandan Mewah.
Other branches are Mak Mandin and Teluk Kumbar (Penang); Gopeng (Perak); Alor Gajah (Melaka); Seremban (Negeri Sembilan); Johor Bahru and Senai (Johor); Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak).
Shukor said 10 other selected outlets would operate six days a week while 19 more selected outlets would carry out an additional two hours of operations nationwide.
According to him, Puspakom also held e-hailing briefings at three branches namely Petaling Jaya (Selangor); Mak Mandin (Penang) and Taman Daya (Johor Bahru) from April to July to assist e-hailing operators and drivers to understand the procedures and standards of inspection to be complied with.
