KAPIT: Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi told Kapit folk to make full use of their idle land to improve their economic status.

“When we have such an asset (land), make sure that whatever we have — whether it is NCR (Native Customary Rights) or mixed zone — we will make use of them to help ourselves in terms of income.

“Everywhere I go here, it is sad to see so much land surrounding longhouses, surrounding our place, left idle and not fully utilised,” he said.

“There is no need to wait for others to help us. Of course, if you want the government, like the agriculture department or other agencies to help, they are willing to help.

“I call upon all folk to make full use of what they have to earn income,” he said.

“Go back to basics, work on the land to increase income to provide better for our family.”

“Of course, for those who want to go further, they can go into cash crop cultivation such as oil palm, rubber and pepper,” he added.
