KUCHING: Approved parking fees for licensed carparks in Sarawak are RM3 for the first four hours and RM5 per day.
However, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) member Datuk Wee Hong Seng found out that the approved rates were not clearly stated for members of the public, especially those who patronised these carparks.
Wee, who made a visit to the parking lots at Sarawak General Hospital together with DBKU director Dr Morshidi Ahmad, wanted notice on these rates be put up clearly for everyone to see.
“This is to avoid misunderstanding,” he said, adding that the rates were approved by DBKU in accordance with its relevant laws on licensing.
“The charge is reasonable, DBKU will not raise it,” he assured.
Operators of a parking lot once appealed to raise the rates but were rejected by the DBKU.
“There is no reason to raise the rates,” Wee said, adding that those who paid RM5 but parked their vehicles less than four hours could ask for a refund.
“If the operators refuse to refund (the balance) lodge a complaint with DBKU Hotline at 082-446644,” he advised.
