KUCHING: The federal government through the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) is committed to strengthen the position of Higher learning institutions (IPTs) in Sarawak.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said his ministry will continue to engage with the state government for the development of the universities.

“This demonstrates the federal government’s commitment through our ministry for higher education in Sarawak,” he said.

He said this following a courtesy visit to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana in Petra Jaya here yesterday.

At the same time, Zambry lauded the Sarawak government’s commitment to developing education in the state.

“As we know, the Sarawak government has five private higher learning institutions, which is an indication of its commitment to education in the state,” he said.

Similarly, the minister also acknowledged the conditions of several institutions in Sarawak that require attention from the administration.
