THE Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak will conduct a thorough investigation to identify the cause of the subsidence road which is located 1.5km from the Batang Sadong Bridge towards Simunjan.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Department Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said following the investigation, recommendations for repair will then be provided.

“To ensure the safety of road users, the PWD will install additional warning signs at the location,” he said.

He was replying to Awla Dris (GPS-Simunjan) during question-and-answer time today.

Earlier Awla Dris (GPS-Simunjan) asked what actions are being taken to address the issue of subsidence along the Batang Sadong-Simunjan road, which could pose a hazard to road users unfamiliar with the area.

On the proposed road upgrade from Batang Sadong Bridge to Kampung Sabun Road in Simunjan, Aidel said repair works are expected to be carried out in the second quarter of 2025.

“PWD Sarawak will also install additional warning signs at the location, expected to be completed by the end of this month,” he said.
