KUCHING: All teachers entering Sarawak from Malaya, Sabah or Labuan must undergo 10 days’ quarantine at designated quarantine centres, said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman said the rT-PCR tests would be taken on the second and eighth day.
“They will be discharged on the tenth day if their test results come back negative.
After that, they will have to continue the remaining four days of quarantine at home,” he told a press conference on the daily Covid-19 update here on Thursday (Jan 7).
Uggah added teachers reporting for duty in the interior areas must also undergo 14-day mandatory quarantine at quarantine centres.
He said it was compulsory for Sarawakians to record their names, phone numbers and the time when entering any premises if they were using the manual registration or record book.
“The premises operators must ensure there are workers who monitor the entry of customers during the registration and recording of temperatures.
“The customers who have temperatures exceeding 37.5 degree celcius must not be allowed to enter the premises,” he stressed.
Also present were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and State Health Director Dr Chin Zin Hing.
