SIBU: Four individuals, including two women, have been arrested for an allegedly robbing a 52-year-old man who had hired a prostitute.
The victim, who is a dishwasher, was walking along Jalan Central at 12.30pm on June 9 when a woman waved at him and propositioned him for sex.
When the duo walked up to a rented room, three individuals suddenly showed up. One of them armed with a penknife asked the victim to surrender all his money.
He gave them RM50 but this was turned down. The trio then snatched his wallet which contained RM800 and his personal documents and fled.
Sibu OCPD Asst Commissioner Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the first two suspects, a 33-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were picked up at 11.10am yesterday at Jalan Market and Jalan Central.
“Following investigations, we arrested another two suspects – a 36-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman at 3.20pm next to a trading company in Jalan Market. The four suspects are unemployed,” he added.
ACP Stanley said the third and fourth suspects had admitted their involvement in the case and they had also told police that the first two suspects were at the scene when the alleged crime was committed.
“The four suspects will be produced in court tomorrow (Wednesday) for remand,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
