SELANGAU: Swift action by the occupants of a house at Mile 40, Sibu-Bintulu Road to put out a fire prevented their home from being razed to the ground today.
According to reports from the Selangau Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the Selangau Fire Station received a call regarding a house fire at Sibu-Bintulu Road.
“However, upon arrival, it was discovered that the occupants had already managed to put out the fire themselves after being alerted by their neighbour. The fire, which had ignited in the middle of the house, reportedly involved old books, clothing, and mattresses.
“Utilising the RECEO (Rescue, Exposures, Confinement, Extinguishment, Overhaul) concept, the fire brigade team conducted an inspection and extinguished any remnants of the fire.
“The firefighters employed one auxiliary hose line and water from the fire engine tank until the fire was completely extinguished,” it said.
Following the operation, the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection of the site to ensure safety before returning to the station.
