ROBAN: Swift action by members of the public prevented a kitchen fire from razing a nursery at Kampung Sungai Pasir, Jalan Roban here yesterday morning.
The incident was noticed at around 8.30am when several members of the public who were passing by the area spotted smoke coming out from the kitchen window of Tabika Kemas Kampung Sungai Pasir.
They doused the fire with two fire extinguishers before alerting the Fire and Rescue Department.
A team of firefighters from Saratok fire station was deployed to the location after receiving a distress call at 8.31am.
It was reported that about 10 per cent of the nursery was destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
