MIRI: The kitchen of a house in Hilltop Garden here caught fire after a gas hose came off at 6.30pm on Saturday.
A swift next-door neighbour managed to put out the fire before it got out of hand.
Miri fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said he was told that the neighbour shut off the gas and used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
Eighteen firemen from Lopeng and Miri stations led by Jimmy Suhaili and Sulaiman Julaili were mobilised to the house.
In the end the firemen had no fire to fight because the neighbour had done the job. Still they checked everything to make sure that everything safe. The operation ended at 7pm.
