BAU: Two brave villagers saved an octogenarian from her burning house in Kampung Tringus last night (Oct 20).
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from Bau station were deployed to the scene, about 34km away, after receiving a distress call at 10.02 pm.
Upon arrival, the single-storey house and a Proton Saga parked nearby were completely engulfed in flames.
Fortunately, the 80-year-old woman was able to escape her burning house with the assistance of two villagers.
The team extinguished the blaze using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.
The flames, which also caused minor damage to three other houses, was brought under control by 11.15 pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
