BINTULU: A homeowner’s proactive and quick-thinking action probably saved his house at Lorong Keranji here from being destroyed by fire on Monday.
A Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesman said a distress call was received around 9pm involving a kitchen fire.
Firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched without delay to the house.
“Upon arrival, our personnel found that the fire only affected the gas stove and did not affect the structure of the house.
“The homeowner managed to put out the fire on his own, but in the process he sustained injuries to his arm and was taken to the hospital,” the spokesman said yesterday.
Eight firefighters were at the scene.
