KUCHING: The organisation of religious events like Quran recitals encourages Muslims to continuously seek knowledge, study, analyse and utilise their intellect effectively.

Especially in advancing the modernisation of the world, which is now entering a technological era.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the government to committed to promoting a culture of reading and understanding the true essence of the Quran.

“The Quran is a supreme guide for Muslims in all aspects of life. While it is easy to talk about and frequently mentioned, how deeply can we understand, appreciate, and practice its teachings?

“In line with modern technology and the needs of contemporary Muslims, the Quran is now accessible through various digital products and software applications, including apps that offer interpretations and selected prayers, all at our fingertips.

“For instance, this event demonstrates technology connecting 12 reciters (qari and qariah) broadcasting live, viewed by audiences outside the Al-Abyad Mosque across multiple media platforms,” he said.

He conveyed this through a speech read by the Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, at the closing ceremony of the Kuching Division Quran Recital on Friday.

Reflecting on the event’s theme, ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur,’ Fadillah emphasised the government’s resolve to transform Sarawak into a prosperous and successful region, guided by clear direction and human values for the future.

He noted that Sarawak’s current progress and prosperity are intertwined, celebrating the nation’s racial and religious diversity.

In steering towards this goal, he stressed the importance of strengthening the roles of families, schools, and communities to instill noble values and foster a national culture, especially among the younger generation.

“We believe this will positively impact our people by enhancing social well-being, prosperity, and the unity of our multi-racial and multi-religious society, in line with the Sarawak Maju 2030 vision launched by the government,” he said.
