KUCHING: Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, the widow of the late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, has filed a police report after being denied entry to her home by security guards.

In an Instagram post, Raghad shared her experience upon returning to Kuching to visit her late husband’s grave and make a charitable donation in his name.

“After Majlis Tautan Kasih Tun Taib in Satok, I drove home but to my surprise, I was not allowed entry to my own house. We were turned away at the gate, and the guards told me they did not have authorisation to let me in,” she said.

Although one guard eventually permitted her entry, Raghad said that he was subsequently fired for doing so.

She claimed that Taib’s grave was in a state of neglect since his funeral in February.

“How shameful and saddening. I don’t think I’m allowed to even keep a single staff member to look after and maintain the grave,” she added.

Expressing her sorrow, Raghad said that she should not have to prove her relationship with her husband and called for justice.

“I didn’t share my stories before, but I think it’s time to do so,” she said.

Taib Mahmud passed away on February 21 in Kuala Lumpur. He served as Sarawak governor from 2014 until January this year, and as chief minister from 1981 to 2014.
