BELAGA: Continuous heavy rainfall recently triggered two landslides in different locations, prompting a swift response from the Civil Defence Force (APM).

According to APM Belaga district officer Lt Mohamad Kamarul Arifin Chali, they received distress calls at around 8.05 am today (Dec 5) and 11.00 pm on Monday (Dec 4).

The incidents occurred in Kampung Long Peran Murum and Kampung Uma Sihan, Sungai Dangan.

In Kampung Long Peran Murum, a landslide occurred in front of a longhouse, approximately seven metres away.

By the time the team arrived, they found that the affected area measured about 30 metres in width and 20 metres in depth.

Fortunately, no damages or injuries were reported among the residents.

Meanwhile, in Kampung Uma Sihan, soil erosion occurred behind a longhouse on Monday night.

A four-member APM team responded swiftly and confirmed that the erosion happened behind Block A, with no structural damage reported.

Kamarul said that the villagers were advised to remain vigilant and to promptly report any worsening situations to the authorities.
