KUCHING: The first day of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) on Friday recorded approximately 6,000 visitors.
Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this was according to the distribution of wristbands.
He is also expecting the number of visitors to increase as more will attend the music festival during the weekend.
Abdul Karim said this in a press conference that was held at Sarawak Culture Village (SCV) here, yesterday.
Asking on the progress of air connectivity from countries into Sarawak as it might increase number of visitors to the event, Abdul Karim said his ministry is still working on it.
“We are still working on it and we hope by next year, we can have more direct flights to Kuching such as from Jakarta and Bangkok.
“Besides that, more transportation such as free shuttle will be provided to visitors, especially those staying in the town area which will make accessibility to the event easier.
“Aside from that, it would also help in efforts to provide electrical bus services to this area”, he said.
Abdul Karim then said his ministry will bring more initiatives to increase the number of visitors not only for the RWMF, but also to visit and discover Sarawak.
