KUCHING: Sarawakians will be experiencing more wet days ahead, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to occur daily over the interior parts of Sarawak this week as a result of the ongoing weak phase (monsoon break) of the southwest monsoon and is expected to last until September.
“For this upcoming week, we expected isolated thunderstorms with rain to happen daily during the evenings and will last until night time over the interior part of the state,” it said.
Based on the forecast, Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Mukah and Sarikei are expecting rain in the morning for most days of the week.
It added that coastal areas in Bintulu, Miri and Limbang also expect the same weather condition.
“Daily average temperature as low as 24°C is expected throughout the week and the highest daily temperature would be at 32°C due to the frequent rain” the department said.
The public is advised to be more vigilant about weather conditions and to always be updated on the weather forecasts and warnings issued by MetMalaysia through its official website and social media accounts as well as the myCuaca mobile app.
For further information, the public can also call the MetMalaysia hotline at 1300-22-1638.
