KUCHING: The police arrested a rape case suspect at an unmarked house on Jalan Manggis here early yesterday. Kuching District Police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek said the 32-year-old man caught was suspected to have raped a teenage girl in a room at a staff quarters in Kenyalang Park last Wednesday.
“In the incident at 1.30pm, the door of the victim’s room was broken into by the suspects, one of the suspects had taken the victim’s wallet and mobile phone while another brandied a knife at the victim and raped her.
“When the suspects were fleeing the scene, they bumped into one of the victim’s housemates, and a struggle ensued between them,” he said.
Ng said the suspect had been remanded for seven days for further investigation, while his accomplice was still being hunted by the police.
“Members of the public who have any information about the incident are urged to come forward to assist with the investigation,” he added. – Bernama
