PUSA: A 26-year-old rape suspect was arrested here, yesterday after he told the aunt of his 16-year-old victim that he had sex with her.
According to Betong District Police chief, Deputy Superintendent Fahdil Antum Abdullah, preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect know each other very well.
“We have arrested a suspect and after interrogation we discovered that last month, the suspect had invited the victim to his house for a chat which the victim obliged. When she returned home she discovered blood stains in her underwear. However, the victim kept the matter a secret until the suspect called the victim’s aunt last Monday and told her (aunt) to bring the girl for a medical check-up,” Fahdil said.
Around 4pm on Tuesday, the former wife of the victim’s father who lives at Kampung Hilir Pusa told the victim’s father about the matter.
After he was informed, the father went to a police to lodge a report.
