KUCHING: Gymnasium operators are delighted with the announcement made by the State Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) that they can reopen.

The announcement was made at a press conference by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker on Thursday (Sept 16).

He said only fully vaccinated individuals were permitted to visit the gymnasiums while adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Security Council (MKN).

 “I was ecstatic that the gyms were allowed to operate again as usual after so long,” said gym operator Ikrima Yahya.

The 32-year-old said he would ensure that his customers follow all the SOPs.

Another gym operator, Salbiah Salleh lauded the decision to restrict the use of the gym facilities to fully vaccinated individuals.

“It is for the safety of all members and gym staff,” she said.

Joseph Janting, a 22-year-old gym staff, said his gym would provide sanitary wipes to customers before and after using any equipment.

He also hoped that all gym patrons would strictly comply with all SOPs to contain the spread the Covid-19 virus.
