SIMANGGANG: Villagers of Munggu Demam in Sri Aman see a ray of hope in the appointment of new village chief Walter Joseph, who accepts the development provided by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.
In support of the leadership under the new village chief, Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has allocated a minor rural project (MRP) fund of RM5,000 to the Munggu Demam village development and security committee (JKKK) and another RM3,000 to its Women Bureau.
“When personal agenda is involved, it will cause villagers to be left behind,” he said when officiating at a gotong-royong programme organised by Sri Aman District Council and Munggu Demam JKKK on Friday.
On the gotong-royong (communal work) programme, Francis, who is also Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing, said it is a government initiative to ensure the community practises good hygiene.
Meanwhile, Sri Aman deputy Resident Elvin Didit advised longhouse residents to not go against the development that is happening around them.
“The development in Sri Aman is on the right track with the establishment of the Sri Aman Development Agency (Sada), which consolidates the development plans in Sri Aman more systematically and comprehensively,” he said.
