KUCHING: Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial is committed to promoting Sarawakian products through various means, including in the form of hampers for the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Its general manager Mohamad Shahren Mohamad Yusri said the products included in these hampers could be found in all corners of Sarawak, adding that there would be three categories of Raya hampers with varying prices.

“This is one of the ways in which Centexs Commercial helps the local community to generate income, as our main objective is to ensure that these products are marketed and these local entrepreneurs get returns,” he said here today.

He said Centexs Commercial had collaborated with various parties and supermarkets in Malaysia by making their products available there, including at Mydin Hypermarket, Aeon Mall, Malakat Mall, and Shell.

“We have started with Shell stations in Kuching and we will expand throughout Sarawak. In addition, there are several other local supermarkets that stock our products.”

He said they had also marketed products in Singapore via the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) as well as in West Malaysia through supermarket outlets and the Sarawak Product Pavilion, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

Furthermore, he pointed out that Centexs Commercial actively promoted local products through online platforms such as Facebook Live.

Shahren said Centexs Commercial had an estimated 200 entrepreneurs in its database, whereby their products were being monitored to be placed at its Heritage Central Gallery and other platforms.

Of these, he said 68 entrepreneurs were actively dealing with them to market their products.

“They are from all over Sarawak, but most of them are from the three locations close to us, namely Kuching, Lundu, and Samarahan. We also have those from Miri, Mukah, Lawas, and so on.”

He said among the bestselling local products were sambal ikan tahai, sambal asam payak, ikan terubok snacks, and Greenleaf Food & Beverages’ ‘Teh C Special’ canned beverage.
