BELADIN: Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam has called on household members (Ahli Isi Rumah (AIR) and the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) clients to participate in skills training through the Skills and Career Training Program (Program Latihan Kemahiran dan Kerjaya (PLKK).

He reasoned that the skills obtained through PLKK are essential in today’s industries as the training are designed to develop the skills and knowledge required of workers in this dynamic economy.

Razi also stated that PLKK was one of the initiatives under the Economic Development Programme aimed at involving the participation of JKM clients’ children.

“They have the opportunity to undergo skills training in areas such as oil and gas, scaffolding, and others, which ultimately may lead to job offers,” he said.

He highlighted that graduates of PLKK would be able to make a positive impact to their family’s income and will no longer rely solely on the monthly welfare assistance.

“Therefore, we call upon them and offer opportunities to more children of JKM clients to participate in this beneficial program.

“The government only opens this golden opportunity to JKM clients’ children, namely recipients of monthly welfare assistance, former residents of welfare institutions, and former trainees of the Community Service Order,” he said.

Touching on the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), Razi who is also Saribas assemblyman stated that the state government is considering the best proposal to enhance the benefits for KGC members.

“In truth, Premier Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is very concerned about this matter.

“So there will indeed be improvements, it is currently being assessed and considered,” he said.
