KUCHING: The reactivation of the special committee under Point 15A of the Federal Constitution will help tackle citizenship issues in Sarawak.

Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution stressed his commitment in addressing the issue during a meeting with Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

Fatimah and her delegation paid a courtesy call to Saifuddin at Putrajaya yesterday (Jan 17).

Among the matters discussed yesterday was the reactivation of the special committee to which Saifuddin is expected to co-chair the meeting which will be held in Kuching for the very first time.

Fatimah’s deputy ministers Datuk Rosey Yunus and Razi Sitam, ministry permanent secretary Noriah Ahmad, National Registration Department (JPN) Sarawak director Awang Afferoz Awang Merikan and Social Development Council (MPS) Sarawak executive secretary Dr Zufar Yadi Brendan Abdullah were among the delegation.
