KUCHING: The Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) holds many benefits for senior citizens in Sarawak.
The Federation of Chinese Associations in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian District distributed 305 KGCs during a ceremony at Gala City on Sunday.
Present during the event was president Datuk Richard Wee.
Eighty-five-year-old Geok Huat Hong said that he was grateful that he will be able to enjoy discounts as part of the benefits of owning the card.
“I am happy that assistance like this is provided for senior citizens in Sarawak,” he said.
Another recipient, 62-year-old Jennifer Choon, said she is glad for the initiative by the government as it could help senior citizens by giving them discounts to purchase medicine and other necessities.
“I am very happy that the government did this as it could help retired people like me who have no income; the discount in medical necessities is crucial,” she said.
Meanwhile, 63-year-old Chia Foo Fin said he couldn’t wait to buy items at a cheaper rate with the help of the KGC.
“I am now able to buy things that I need at a cheaper price,” he said.
