REPOK: To win back the Sarikei parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15), the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Sarikei branch has been urged to work together.

During a recent visit to the Repok Constituency Service Centre, Deputy Premier and SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the seat must be won in order to secure additional funding from the federal government to develop Sarikei.

Currently, the Sarikei parliamentary seat is held by Wong Ling Biu of Democratic Action Party (DAP).

In the GE14, he was able to defeat Wong Chin King of the Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Huang Tiong Sii of the Barisan Nasional (BN) with a total of 16,327 votes.

During his visit, Dr Sim also held a dialogue session with the branch members. Current and local issues as well as development activities were some of the topics covered.

He also expressed his congratulations to Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii who won a large majority of the vote in the 12th State Election.
